Jack Kane Centre

City of Edinburgh Council

Creation of new cycling facilities in Hunter’s Hall Park including a 250m Velodrome and a national level BMX track. The existing Jack Kane Centre is to have new services throughout, and alterations [architecturally and structurally] are to be made in key areas to improve the facility.

Since 2013 we have been working for the City of Edinburgh Council on a variety of different projects at the Hunter’s Hall Park in Niddrie, south west Edinburgh.

The project comprises 3 phases:

Phase 1, which is complete includes, a new 60 x 40m 3G Football Pitch, a re-surfaced existing full size 3G Football Pitch and a Cycling Pump Track as well as associated landscape and road and carpark improvements.

Phase 2 includes a 250m Outdoor Velodrome and a World Championship BMX Track.

Phase 3 involves refurbishment of the Jack Kane Sports Centre. Originally built in the early 1970’s the Centre has become run down and is barely fit for purpose. It is also an uninviting building that turns its back on the public road. The new works will include new floor finishes, re-configured changing rooms, an extended and fully refurbished gym/fitness suite, complete replacement of the mechanical and electrical services, extensive re-decoration internally. The exterior of the building is to receive a subtle facelift with some new windows and a pattern created using mineral pigments on the existing concrete block walls.
