Forth Valley College, Alloa Campus
Forth Valley College of Further and Higher Education
“With these two outstanding new campuses in Alloa and Stirling, and our plans for the Falkirk Campus developments, Forth Valley College will be an inspiring place to learn and work.” - Linda McKay (MBE), Principal
Forth Valley College has launched an exciting new era for education and training in central Scotland, thanks to one of the largest ever investments made by the Scottish Funding Council and the College’s own multi-million pound outlay.
The initial project delivered two new build state-of-the-art learning campuses in both Stirling and Alloa but also developed the first phase of a solution for the college’s Headquarters at Falkirk.
The Alloa Campus accommodates engineering, construction, care and early years, creative industries, science, business, hair and beauty along with access and progression. The development will transform the learning experience for students as well as putting Forth Valley College at the forefront of further and higher education provision.
The building rests on a wooded site, raised above the town centre, has a form which responds directly to that of the land - Workshops are placed on the available flat ground alongside Clackmannan Road with service yard concealed behind. Teaching accommodation is wrapped around this at a higher level, giving every space a view.
The heart of the campus is the refectory – a meeting place through which many routes pass, and where chance encounter can develop into conversation. The library is a spectacular double height volume, cantilevered out over the hill with a glass wall giving views to the Ochil hills to the north.
The building is naturally lit and ventilated throughout and is rated BREEAM Excellent under BREEAM 2008.
